Ocelot

Ocelot

Body Length - 550 to 1000 mm
Weight - 9 to 14 kg (average)
Life Span - 8 to 11 years

The fur of the Ocelot, with it's dark brown strange shaped spots and stripes, edged with black on a yellowish background give this medium size cat a most identifiable appearance. The cat's underlying color changes with it's habitat, with the base color of it's fur being a rich yellowish creamy in more dry areas to a darker yellowish brownish in forested habitats. The slender body of the ocelot can measure up to four foot and weighs in at twice that of a large domestic cat.

The ocelot's hunting technique is carried out mostly by night. It's prey includes small deer, rabbits, rodents, reptiles and when available, fish.
